When the airport Münster / Osnabrück (FMO) wanted to make remote access to their internal network more secure, they looked for a solution that would provide two-factor authentication to strengthen the current username/password authentication process. They wanted a solution where they could use their existing Active Directory server, laptops and mobile phones.  The One Time Password Server from Nordic Edge provided all the functionality they were looking for without requiring additional hardware, and minimized administration.

FMO has implemented two authentication methods using Nordic Edge technology, one-time passwords sent via text messages and one-time passwords generated using the mobile client Pledge. The One Time Password Server sends a text message to the user’s mobile phone with a one-time password that the user needs to enter in order to gain access to the network. Pledge turns the mobile device into a security token and the one-time password is generated on the phone.

”We were impressed by the rapid implementation of the system, and also by the ease-of-use for our users and the low administration required.  Nordic Edge´s partner Avency worked with us throughout the project to ensure the successful implementation”, says Francisco Rodriguez, CIO Münster/Osnabrück Airport.

”Any organization providing remote access to internal systems over the Internet must consider using two-factor authentication for the login process. The One Time Password Server from Nordic Edge integrates with most environments and the installation at FMO is a perfect example of a successful, secure implementation”, says Edith Hojka, Sales Director Avency.

”The One Time Password Server makes use of equipment that already exists, people’s mobile phones, so it’s a very cost effective solution for our customers, it’s easy to deploy and it is easy to use. We’re delighted that FMO has chosen Nordic Edge”, says Tord Fransson, Product Manager Nordic Edge.
