Dublin, September 1st 2010 This year Dublin’s Innovation Festival will host a flagship Conference in Dublin’s new state of the art Convention Centre. Globe Forum Dublin 2010 is a unique blend of conference sessions focused on developing market-leading innovation, while also acting as a marketplace where innovators and investors can connect. On November 17th - 18th innovators, investors, researchers and leaders of business and state will gather in Dublin to seek to provide solutions to major challenges in creative methods of funding innovation, and encourage strong and decisive action to address sustainability issues through innovation. A pivotal role has been played by Dublin City Council in bringing this Global Innovation Event to Dublin. The focus of Globe Forum Dublin 2010 is Smarter and Greener – Innovation for a Sustainable Future.
SHOWCASE: Globe Forum Dublin is more than just a Conference. In addition to bringing international thought leaders to address innovation as a key to future social, economic and environmental sustainability, the event will showcase the best of current Irish research and innovation making it a “must attend” event for investors and multi-nationals interested in harnessing a wealth of talent. Leaders from Government, cities, business, research communities and education will take part, with special guests including Minister for Communications Eamon Ryan and former President of Ireland Mary Robinson. CALL FOR INNOVATORS: The conference marketplace will actively encourage investment in emerging enterprises, providing professional support for innovators, encouraging new methods of funding innovation. A select group of innovators and early stage researchers will be invited to pitch to a panel of investors, with the overall winner receiving a valuable mentorship programme to guide them to secure investment. SMART AND GREEN CITIES: The Forum will provide a central gathering for leading innovation and research that promotes a smarter and greener future, while demonstrating international best practice examples of how smart and green cities and economies can be built. Conference sessions will provide evidence of how the research investment in Ireland has delivered a rich harvest of innovation, while developing an action list of policy and practice innovation for business, education, and local and national government on how to advance the smart and green agenda and create a legacy from the event. The Conference is supported by a wide range of multi-national companies in Ireland, many of whom have chosen to locate key global innovation and research facilities in the greater Dublin region.
