Press releaseCLOSER, the Swedish arena for transport efficiency is lead partner for a European project named SWIFTLY Green (Sweden-Italy Freight Transport and Logistics Green Corridor). The project aims to develop a toolbox for increased consideration of green issues in context of TEN-T planning and implementation of the TEN-T Core network corridors.
The toolbox will consist of guidelines, tools and recommendations for greening of transport and will be based on best practice and transferable results from a thorough mapping and analysis of previous and on-going projects. It is also envisaged that the toolbox will stimulate the transport and logistics sector and industry to implement efficient sustainable transport solutions.
The SWIFTLY Green project proposal, with 13 partners from six countries, has now been approved by the European Commission (TEN-T). EU will fund 50 % of the total budget of EUR 2,871,000.
- This is a very important and prestigious project and we are proud over the decision that the Commission now has taken, says Jerker Sjögren, Programme Manager at CLOSER, a part of Lindholmen Science Park AB. We are going to scan the entire Europe looking for the very best sustainable transport and innovative green logistics solutions. The result will be a toolbox to put into the hands of the corridor managers and all involved stakeholders.
The project will start 1 October and ends in December 2015.
