Greetings to the No War 2019 Meeting on Pathways to Peace organized by World Beyond War in Limerick October 5th-6th, 2019

This is an important gathering. It comes at a moment in history when mankind, already facing so many challenges to peace in endless wars caused by attacks against innocent countries and peoples, risks further escalation by US interventions from Venezuela to Iran and Korea while the warmongers even speak of igniting and winning nuclear conflicts!

We share your demand that the wars in Afghanistan and Yemen must be ended immediately. The corporate mass media ignores the fact that each week the victims in these conflicts outweigh the number of victims of 9/11. But even the wars that the US claims have ended have not ended. Iraq is a good example. Military forces remain, bases established, to guarantee the security of a client government imposed on the Iraqis. The conflict is outsourced and privatized to mercenary forces to keep it outside any form of democratic control. But the murder, the suffering and the hardships caused by the occupation continue. Remember the forgotten war in Iraq! Its victims deserve accountability and justice and above all real independence and peace.

You have as is necessary a packed agenda. But we hope your conference reiterates its support for the imprisoned Wikileaks journalist Julian Assange, opposes his extradition and demands his freedom. He has exposed the lies of the war machine and its many crimes, especially in Iraq and Afghanistan. His mistreatment is an urgent priority for all forces of resistance.

Our warmest greetings to staunch allies in the peace movement at World Without War´s 4th Global Conference! We hope you share with us who are unable to attend the contributions of the many speakers and the plans for further actions.
