Hinrich Sachs - Public talk in the framework of Headless. From the Public Record

In connection to artist-duo Goldin+Senneby Headless. From the Public Record Index has invited Hinrich Sachs, artist and writer, to give a lecture. Hinrich Sachs, who years ago coined the art world specific term "indoor language" in a conversation with curator Barnaby Drabble, has been quoted on this term by Goldin+Senneby. Furthermore Sachs got to know the duo as artist colleges. In his talk at Index Hinrich Sachs will discuss necessities, strategies and constraints for an artist to speak in today's public and societal settings, be it in the form of an exhibition, be it in the media, be it in other public realms, with the backdrop of the current exhibition at Index.

Hinrich Sachs is an artist based in Basel. While critically reflecting upon communicative and cultural frameworks, he focuses on testing, elaborating, choreographing and transferring the forms and formats of cultural material. His work has been exhibited at Kunstverein Hamburg, Kunsthalle Basel, Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Migros Museum, Zurich, CAC Vilnius, Eternal Tour, Rome, Contemporary Image Centre Cairo and Museum Ludwig, Cologne. Since 2001 he has taught at a variety of European art institutions, currently holding the position of a professor at the Royal University College of Art in Stockholm. He regularly writes for magazines and catalogues.
