Imperial College London and Orzone cooperate to develop unique medical simulation product.
Goteborg, February 18th, 2010. Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London and Swedish company Orzone in collaboration to develop a unique medical simulation product to improve medical outcome and patient safety.

Orzone announces its first Orcamp customer, Imperial College in London, one of the leading universities in the world. The parties have entered a long-term partnership to jointly develop content and functionality for a team training operating environment called Orcamp.

Focusing on advanced medical procedures, Orcamp will facilitate training and assessment of multi-professional operating teams. Features include full-scale OR equipment such as x-ray equipment, patient table and screens, integration with available patient simulators, built-in technical and team exercises and extensive assessment support according to validated rating scales. Since the x-ray is simulated and the patients are virtual, no radiation is emitted and no patients are hurt while the medical teams are trained.


Vascular Surgery Professor Nick Cheshire, Head of Circulation and Renal Sciences at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, remarks:

The partnership will include an installation of Orcamp in Imperial College’s skills centre, located at St. Mary’s hospital in central London.

Research activities as well as scheduled courses are planned for the second half of 2010.

Orzone is based in Goteborg, Sweden and is committed to help improve medical outcome by developing creative tools, based on virtual reality, e-health and advanced simulation technology.
