ARAI is a cooperative industrial research association established by the Ministry of Industries, Government of India. ARAI provides technical expertise in R&D and is the agency in India for automotive testing, certification and framing of vehicle regulations. It has been playing a crucial role in India assuring safe, less polluting and more efficient vehicles.

Through the agreement, the Indian automotive industry is offered services within winter testing in northern Sweden. These facilities will be useful to electronic system manufacturers, automotive component and sub-system manufacturers and tire manufacturers. Fire risk assessment of vehicles will also be included.

- This is good news and a valuable contribution to our automotive activities in India. The MoU was signed within a very short period after ARAI’s visit to Swedish winter testing locations in northern Sweden. It shows that Sweden has a very attractive proposition to foreign investors. We look forward to many fruitful common activities in the future, says Stefan Östling, Head of Automotive, Invest in Sweden Agency.

- The deal confirms that northern Sweden is a European centre for winter testing. Competence, know-how and natural conditions are all present to give clients the best possible solution. The cooperation between ARAI and the local participants in the winter test region will bring further development to our range of services, says Olof Norberg, investment promotion manager for the Automotive project in Västerbotten Investment Agency, regional partner of ISA.
