On 13-14 October 2010, a Business Conference will be organized in Stockholm, Sweden by the Palestine International Business Forum (PIBF) together with the International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR). The conference will gather a number of private sector companies and Swedish, Israeli and Palestinian business leaders to put focus on how to strengthen the Palestinian economy through an increase of trade, investments and private sector development.

The origin of the Palestine International Business Forum (PIBF) dates back to 1994, when Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Yasser Arafat and Shimon Peres met with Swedish business leaders to discuss how the private sector could positively contribute to the peace process. In 2005 PIBF was founded by a group of dedicated Palestinian, Israeli and Swedish business leaders. Our aim is to provide an open business forum, not only for discussions on business and peace but for joint business ventures and joint development of certain key segments within the Palestinian society.

Presently, PIBF gathers close to 100 high-ranking private sector actors from Palestine, Israel and Sweden. The business leaders and companies supporting PIBF share the belief that peace is good for business, and business is good for peace. Among our prominent Swedish founding member companies such as AB Volvo, LM Ericsson AB, OMX Nasdaq, SEB and Tetra Laval Group can be found.

This year’s Annual Business Conference marks PIBF’s 5th anniversary. The conference will provide a forum for entrepreneurs to come together to explore business opportunities as well as innovative thinking linked to themes in the areas of sustainability, competitiveness and design.

Palestine International Business Forum (PIBF) - brings together Palestinian, Israeli and Swedish business interests and business people in order to create sustainable economic development in Palestine. PIBF focuses its activities in areas identified vital for economic growth in Palestine to benefit the Palestinian people. PIBF is a private-sector organization whose members are prominent business leaders from all three countries. We believe that free and reciprocal business relations build sustainability in Palestine which will ultimately positively contribute to building peace in the Middle East.
