October 2005 – Mobispine, a free operator independent mobile-to-mobile service for mobile text and multimedia messaging, is now launched in the Russian language. The mobispine concept ( brings a completely new attitude to the ever-growing mobile instant messaging community.

“We have seen a high demand from Russian citizens to use our service. About 20% of our users origin from Russia, so we decided to translate mobispine to Russian in order to attract an even larger Russian audience. Most people prefer to use software that uses your native language.”

Compared to an SMS or MMS, mobispine is at least 100 times cheaper – a text message only costs approximately $ 0.0001, and an image message costs slightly more. Most people find 1000 messages for about $ 0.10 -- affordable. Mobispine uses optimized GPRS data and the consumer only pay the operator for transmitted GPRS data.

“To attract the mass market, we offer the service free of charge for personal usage”, says Joakim Hilj Director of Sales of Mobile Trends. “You only pay your operator the minimum costs of used GPRS data. In Russia, the price per MB GPRS data is very low, which makes mobispine a success in Russia” he continues.

The mobispine platform is also used by international content providers (companies) to distribute mobile content to their end-consumers at a much lower price than SMS/MMS.
