On November 10, the second Tiger of Sweden concept store will open in the high-street shopping centre Sandton City in Johannesburg. The new store will house all the Tiger of Sweden collections: men’s, women’s and jeans, as well as shoes and accessories.
“South Africa is an attractive market for a brand like Tiger of Sweden, and we are excited to be opening at a new location and expand our offer of Scandinavian fashion heritage here in Johannesburg”, says David Thunmarker, CEO Tiger of Sweden.
The 270 sqm concept store follows the Tiger of Sweden trademark style in its monochrome, minimal design with unexpected details. The location, Sandton City, is characterized by its cosmopolitan mix of global trades, cultures and trends, and at the same time being a thriving business and financial district. Home to approximately 300,000 residents and 10,000 businesses, and offering everything from finance to fashion; Sandton is the commercial, business and entertainment hub of South Africa.
“Sandton is a reflection of the Tiger of Sweden brand – it’s a place for both business and party, just where we want to be”, adds David Thunmarker.
Tiger of Sweden is a classical fashion brand, built from a proud Swedish tailor tradition, and was founded in 1903. In the 1990’s the company made a change of course by taking the suit from the bank office to the street, and as of today, Tiger of Sweden is one of Sweden’s leading ready-to-wear clothing companies. Tiger of Sweden is worn by, among others, rock bands such as The Hives and Mando Diao.

AUTUMN/WINTer 2011 Collections
Tiger of Sweden offers men’s collections, a women’s collection and a jeans collection. The Autumn-Winter 2011 collection takes on an explorer theme in an urban environment. It evolves from wardrobe essentials, plays with utilitarian detailing on outerwear, and adds folklore patterns and structures in knitwear and jerseys. All is kept in minimal expressions – reflecting Tiger of Sweden’s Scandinavian heritage and simplicity. The fabrics used are combinations of classic and hi-tech, pushing the boundaries for innovation.
