Nodem 2013: Beyond Control - The Collaborative Museum and its Challenges
Pressmeddelande • Dec 02, 2013 08:26 CET
NODEM 2013 is a multidisciplinary conference where the latest research in digital media and technology are mixed with best practices from museums and cultural institutions. The Keynote sessions will include speakers from MoMA, Ars Electronica and the International Institute for the Inclusive Museum.
NODEM creates arenas for exchanges of experiences, best practices, and research aspects on the use of digital media in communicating with visitors and audiences, at museums, galleries, and heritage attractions. The conference will focus on the challenges that museums and cultural institutions face in an increasingly media saturated landscape.
This year, the conference will celebrate ten years. The theme for this year's conference is Beyond Control - The Collaborative Museum and its Challenges.
Keynote Speakers include Allegra Burnette, Creative Director, Digital Media at the Museum of Modern Art, USA, Nora McGregor, Digital Curator, The British Library, UK and Gerfried Stocker, Artistic and Managing Director, Ars Electronica, Austria.
The digitization of the museum and heritage sector has been ongoing for decades and has fundamentally changed the role of institutions. Knowledge and interpretation processes have become more available and are increasingly influenced by various collaborations with visitors and other groups. Simultaneously, the research and technology industries work to develop new tools, applications, interfaces and projects that provide new experiences. NODEM 2013 brings together representatives from all these areas, initiating collaboration and innovation.
Date: Conference Program December 2nd to 3rd.
Guided museum tours for conference attendees, December 1st and 4th.
Location: Hotel Hilton Slussen, Stockholm City Museum, and Museum of Medieval Stockholm
The conference is in English.
