STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN

The solutions from the Swedish IT Security company Nordic Edge for securing and administering user identities has been well received amongst analytics, security experts and users around the world. Amongst many international customers deploying Nordic Edge solution throughout the fall is the Turkish General Directorate of Social Assistance and Solidarity. The Social Agency is deploying Nordic Edge One Time Password Server to its all of its users in order to secure remote access to their applications.

Nordic Edge hosted in September a delegation from Turkish government to discuss the final stages in the project and to get trained in the new solution. The deal with Nordic Edge was followed by a tendering process where a thorough analysis of the authentication market was performed. The conclusion was that Nordic Edge was the best fit.

–The Nordic Edge solution has many advantages. It is easy to roll out, easy to use, scalable and very flexible with its many ways to authenticate users. Nordic Edge does also offer very good support, says Umut Yesilirmak, IT Security Manager at General Directorate of Social Assistance and Solidarity in Turkey and responsible for the project with Nordic Edge.

Turkey is, as in many other countries, going through a process to introduce eGovernment solutions as a way to simplify, secure and streamline operations. Sweden is one of the leading countries within eGovernment and Nordic Edge has a large penetration within the public sector in Sweden which has served as a reference for the Turkish project.

The product used in the first phase is the One Time Password Server from Nordic Edge which authenticates the 5,500 users using username/password and a one-time password. Nordic Edge also delivers an IAM solution which is used to manage all the identities in the LDAP directory. The integration partner Cloud Solutions is together with local partners deploying the solution.

The General Directorate of Social Assistance and Solidarity has chosen to use the Yubikey from Yubico for its users. The usage is very simple, when the user wants to log in, he first enters username/password. When he gets prompted for the one-time password, the user inserts the Yubikey The Social Agency can also use other authentication methods such as SMS or mobile client.

– Umut Yesilirmak is clearly spearheading eGovernment in Turkey, he is well established in the country and has also been awarded for his work. It is great to deliver this solution to his organization, says Tord Fransson Director International Sales at Nordic Edge.
