Oceans is the winner of Europe's first Google Glass showdown.

Stockholm, Sweden — Oceans (www.oceans.io), a digital tool for ocean exploration, is named the winner of the first ever European Google Glass showdown at the SIME conference on November 12-13 in Stockholm, Sweden. The jury, consisting of Rikard Steiber, Chief Digital Officer of Modern Times Group and CEO of MTGx, Gustav Radell, head of marketing for Google Sweden, and Ola Ahlvarsson, chairman and founder of SIME, selected Oceans as the winning company in steep competition with other innovative startups.

The winning product, Oceans for Glass, makes the underwater world accessible to anyone by projecting oceanic images and data from your current location into Google Glass.

"Oceans mission is to make the amazing world under the surface accessible to anyone, no matter if you are a diver or not. With Google Glass and Oceans, everyone can be an ocean explorer" says Jimmy Reuterwall, Co-founder Oceans.

Oceans is currently in private beta and will expand its user base in the coming months, planning a  global launch in early 2014.

"We are excited to get Oceans in the hands of more users. Receiving this award is a testimony that the our work to create awareness of the oceanic life under the surface is important" he added.
