Open Communications, the independent brand communications agency, is adding a number of senior team members to support clients’ growing needs. The agency has recruited a senior Account Manager, a seasoned Account Director and a talented next-generation Art Director.
Open also previously recruited a CEO who is now stepping in as Partner and co-owner. The agency, which works primarily in English on international assignments, says the recruitments will better enable it to meet the modern communication needs of its growing client base.
“For me, the starting point was to ensure that our customers are getting the top-level support they deserve,” says David Gray, Creative Director and Founder of Open. “I’m delighted to have Gunilla Lundström joining me as CEO and business partner. She’s a true internationalist with a proven track record of leadership in solving complex brand communication challenges – from New York and London to Hong Kong.”
“There is a clear need for a truly international agency that can handle complex assignments across borders,” says Gunilla.
“As clients become more global in today’s digital landscape, the challenges they face when broadening their markets are growing. With modern technology, location becomes less relevant. Speed, flexibility and insight, on the other hand, are key factors when it comes to brand storytelling.”
Gunilla joined Open following an extensive career as a branding and communications consultant at global agencies such as Dowell//Stubbs-Gyro, where she worked for eight years with positioning Stockholm as The Capital of Scandinavia.
She was also responsible for global branding and communications for brands such as ITT, Metso, Logica and AAAS/Science Magazine. Prior to Gyro, Gunilla worked for a number of years at Lowe Lintas in New York, which she joined after several years at Lowe Brindfors in Stockholm.
To best serve clients in this new global environment, Gunilla says: “I wanted to build the best possible agency for our types of clients. This meant having to really hand-pick the best people for the job. It has taken a few months but I finally have the best team in place!”
The team that now complements the existing talents at Open are:
• Henrik Sund, Account Director
A semi-professional sailor, passionate car enthusiast and brand-builder, Henrik has worked at Lowe Brindfors and Grow with accounts like Helly Hansen, Seger, Ericsson, Bentley, Saab, Habo and Fisker Automotive. He advises on strategy, supports clients’ marketing and communications and hosts branding workshops as well. Henrik brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, which will be very valuable for Open’s clients.
• Maria Berglund, Account Manager
Maria joins the agency with 27 years of experience in the business, so there are few types of projects she hasn’t done or can’t handle. Maria most recently handled the operational part of the Swedish Expo 2012 Pavilion in Korea and has previously worked with new Open CEO Gunilla Lundström at Gyro, handling brands and clients such as ITT, Metso, Logica and Stockholm – the Capital of Scandinavia.
• David Levin, Art Director
Skateboarding and photography talent David Levin has joined Open after 5 years at Grow, working with clients such as Helly Hansen, Riksbyggen, Alma Media, Pöyry and Mustad. He also spent almost a year in Japan and, prior to joining Grow, worked as an in-house Art Director for Fenix Outdoor group. David brings with him a keen interest to solve clients’ communication problems with a fantastic attitude.
