STOCKHOLM, Sweden, March 6, 2006 - Picsearch announced today that it has full support for Chinese characters. This means that Picsearch will be able to provide relevant images for searches made in languages that use Chinese characters: Chinese and Japanese. Picsearch will not at this point launch any sites in China, Japan, Taiwan or Hong Kong, but it is an important step for a future expansion into these new markets.

"By incorporating support for Chinese characters Picsearch has proven our ambition to expand to markets beyond those using western languages. The market potential for a quality image search engine in countries like Taiwan, Japan and China is huge," said Nils Andersson, CEO of Picsearch.

According to recent statistics the countries using Chinese characters already accounts for approximately 21 percent of all internet users in the world (CIA World Factbook 2005). The number of Chinese web pages has increased dramatically in the past few years and it is expected that the majority of web pages will be written in Chinese within a couple of years.
