STOCKHOLM - June 23 – This week Kay Johansson, CTO of Popwire Technology, will be presenting at WWDC 2003 in San Francisco. The presentation “Content Creation for mobile phones: Top 10 success factors” (session 720), will include a demonstration of encoding based on Popwire’s state-of-the-art encoding products like the Compression Master and the Compression Engine.

“Our products are developed for broadcasting/media houses, but the modular architecture enables you to add-on support for more formats such as the 3GPP. By combining the Compression Master and the Compression Engine you will get to the next generation of encoding” says Kay Johansson, CTO of Popwire.

With the native Cocoa code base the Compression Master leverages the power of Mac OS X, giving outstanding performance and robustness. The Compression Master also features a unique filtering architecture that delivers an amazing output quality. It is a standalone desktop encoder allowing you to encode and deliver high-quality media for the Broadcast, Telco and Internet industry.

Compression Master is fully interoperable with the second product – the Compression Engine, a UNIX-based encoder for users with high demand on speed, uptime and reliability. Compression Engine delivers what Broadcasting companies, Media houses and Telecom Operators all look for – a high quality product that fully automates the workflow from content ingestion through to pre-processing encoding and transcoding, saving considerable amount of time and money.

For large-scale operations, a stand-alone desktop encoding system is simply not powerful enough. Popwire’s Compression Engine is a high performance encoder for professionals who deal with large amounts of content. It is an unrivaled solution when content needs to be distributed in multiple formats as well as transcoding between intermediate formats. The Popwire Compression Engine drastically improves both the production process and performance when encoding high quality content. Popwire Compression Engine runs on a Sun Solaris server and Apple Xserve and is optimized for speed and quality. The system is fully scalable and easy to upgrade.

Popwire specialize in encoding solutions for customers with a need for large amounts of audio/video volumes to be converted from one media format to another.
Our business concept is to create a high quality digital production environment where rich media fast and efficient can be produced in a single workflow for a variety of distribution networks: Broadband/IP, Wireless, TV Broadcasting or for efficient archiving.
