Berlin, Germany, September 21st 2010
Icomera, the worldʼs leading provider of cellular broadband gateways for mobile applications, today announces its new Icomera X6 mobile access and application router. The announcement is made on the opening day of InnoTrans 2010 where the European rail industry converges every second year.
“We are very excited to be able to present this product,” says Roger Sandén, President and CEO of
Icomera. “Icomera created this market segment eight years ago and now we are raising the bar again.
Although the Icomera X6 is only now being officially released we already have pre-orders from train
operators and rolling stock manufacturers from around the world. The product has been extremely well
received and we are now ramping up our production to meet the high demand.”
For the first time the Icomera X6 offers the rail industry a standardised rail IP communications platform
with broadband performance that is specifically designed to host third party applications. Icomera
believes this will accelerate on-train application deployment by removing the technical and commercial
barriers to collaboration and innovation between suppliers.
“Icomera X6 represents an entirely new generation of products that builds upon our almost decade
long experience in this business,” says Martin Bergek, Vice President, Business and Product
Development. “It is a great combination of rail-grade state of the art hardware together with our new
improved software platform,” continues Martin Bergek.
Icomera X6 is available for order now. For more information, go to www.icomera.com. Or, if you are at
the InnoTrans fair, please pay us a visit at 5.1/123.
Icomera launched the world's first high-speed Internet solution for trains in September 2002 and is today the world's leading provider of open Internet connectivity and application platforms for passenger transport and public safety. Our award-winning products are deployed on rail, road and sea, serving more than 15 million Wi-Fi users in over 20 countries and providing high-speed access for fleet tracking and mission-critical on-board systems.
Transport solutions of the future will require more than connectivity - passengers need to be entertained, the vehicles need to be monitored and the staff need to be kept informed. Together with our application partners Icomera is already meeting these and other needs through the deployment of complete transportation communication solutions.
Established in 1999, Icomera is headquartered in Sweden with office in the United Kingdom and channel partners worldwide. For more information visit www.icomera.com
