Pressmeddelande   •   Okt 14, 2010 15:52 CEST

For the second time a swedish whisky has taken a prestigious Jim Murray's Whisky Bible Award. Again it is Mackmyra Svensk Whisky who takes the award and this year for the new release Mackmyra Brukswhisky. This is the second time the Swedish distillery gets the award for European Whisky of the Year.

Speaking at the publication of the Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2011 Jim Murray said, "Brukswhisky stood head and shoulders above those in its category, this is a beautifully structured whisky of great integrity and depth; another Mackmyra masterpiece!"

Jim Murray’s Tasting Notes:
Mackmyra Brukswhisky db (95.5) n24 deceptively heavy nose, or deceptively light? At first thin golden syrup, but a lovely rumbling counterweight of light oil, toasty grain and red liquorice; t24 just fabulous: so delicate and complex as varying levels of busy oak pop around the palate. Bourbony in some senses but the juiciness of the grain has an entirely different character. The molten honeycomb and drier hickory has a familiar feel; f23.5 long, spicy, chocolatey, honeyed, vanillary; b24 one of the most complex and most beautifully structured whiskies of the year. A Mackmyra masterpiece, cementing the distillery among the world’s true greats. 41.4%.

Jim Murray Liquid Gold Awards

Created last year to recognise whisky-making excellence around the world some x new whiskies, scoring 94 points or more have been awarded Liquid Gold Awards in the 2011 Whisky Bible.

Representing just 4% of all the whiskies featured in the 2011 edition they are, says Murray "the elite; the very finest you can find on whisky shelves around the world. Rare and precious they are liquid gold".
