Tomorrow another 300 guests arrive at the Göteborg International Film Festival and the eleventh edition of Nordic Film Market. This year a total of 18 new films and 17 works in progress are screened to international buyers, distributors and festival programmers. First arrival will be Armando Iannucci – Oscar nominee for best adapted script for In the Loop.
Nordic Film Market is the leading market place for new Nordic film. It takes place just between Rotterdam and Berlin and has become a natural stop on the Europe tour for distributors, buyers and festivals from all over the world, looking for new Nordic films.
– I am extra excited by the fact that we present as many as 17 works in progress this year. There are so many interesting upcoming Nordic films, ten of them debutants who I think we will see a lot of at festivals around the world during the next years, says Cia Edström, Nordic Film Market Manager.
Among the world premieres are Among Us by Johan Brisinger (Sweden), Between Two Fires by Agniezka Lukasiak (Sweden), Balls by Josef Fares (Sweden) and The Woman Who Dreamt of A Man by Per Fly (Denmark).
In the work in progress programme we notice both new and experienced directors: Behind Blue Skies by Hannes Holm, Trust Me by Johan Kling and the debutants Till det som är vackert by Lisa Langseth, Sound of Noise by Ola Simonsson and Johannes Stjärne Nilsson as well as Simple Simon by Andreas Öhman.
There are five Danish debuts: Rosa Morena by Carlos Oliviera, Nothing’s All Bad by Mikkel Munch-Fals, Skyscraper by Rune Schjotts and Juan by Kasper Holten. Additional debuts are Norwegian Ninja by Thomas Cappelen Malling (Norway) and Run Sister Run! by Marja Pyykkö (Finland).
Nordic Film Market takes place February 4-7.
Meeting Point Television, the tv drama seminar during NFM focuses on new trends in film & TV drama, the success of Nordic Crime, financing & funding politics and the importance of comedy. The guests will give on-stage interviews and lectures, take part in discussions and present works in progress. Among the guests are Armando Iannucci, the director behind the film In the Loop, as well as numerous tv- and radio productions.
The seminar will be held February 4-5.
