Unmanned Systems AG, a Swiss-based company specialising in the production and operation of Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) – announced today a change of name to ‘UMS Group’.

This announcement comes less than a year since Unmanned Systems AG acquired Swiss UAV AG. "This strategic change is more than just a new name and is a very important step for the new company’s identity and growth," said Neil Hunter, CEO of the new UMS Group. "UMS Group is combining the knowledge and expertise of two companies with the aim of becoming one of the key UAS manufacturers in Europe with global reach.” The Group will comprise of the Zug based holding company UMS Group AG with two operating companies – UMS Switzerland AG, based in Möhlin, Switzerland and UMS Sweden AB, based in Linkoping, Sweden.

To enhance the company’s existing footprint in Sweden, where the testing and demonstrations of its fixed wing products are conducted, new dedicated office and production premises in Möhlin, have been secured which will become the centre for UMS Group’s operations. "The new location is modern, purpose built and provides room for growth – the larger and much improved infrastructure gives us the opportunity to expand and further increase our productivity, which is key to our future plans”, added Hunter. The company move with new machinery installed will be complete by 9 May.

The new logo design encapsulates aviation expertise as well as the Swiss heritage of the UMS Group. “Our new logo points the way to an exciting future for our company and at the same time, will be a constant reminder of who we are and what we excel at. As well as re-structuring the group, re-naming and re-defining its products – both fixed wing and rotary UAS – the new strategy firmly focuses on delivering capabilities in response to customer (military an civilian) needs. I believe UMS Group’s mantra of ‘Many Missions – One Solution’ sums up our overall approach to customer requirements and satisfaction,” added Hunter.

Transition to the new name, including the rebranding of its products and changes to packaging and marketing materials, takes place with effect from 9 May 2014. The Group Chairman, Mr Stefan Peller ,stated that “he is extremely proud with the continuing development and growth of the Group and the fact that it offers the unique combination of both fixed wing and VTOL UAS. The search of excellence is a key goal to achieve sustainability for both Total Quality Management and the delivery of outstanding service.”
