Popwire Technology is showcasing its just-upgraded media encoding products, Compression Master and the Compression Engine, at this week's Worldwide Developers Conference.

Compression Master -- now up to version 2.0 -- has a native Cocoa code base (Cocoa is Apple's object-oriented development system) and is a standalone desktop encoder that lets you encode and deliver media for the broadcast, telco, and Internet industries. It has a filtering architecture and supports all ISMA and 3GPP standards.

Compression Master is interoperable with the Compression Engine, a UNIX-based encoder for professional users who have intense speed, uptime, and reliability requirements. Targeted to broadcasting companies, media houses, and telecom operators, the Compression Engine automates the workflow from content ingestion to pre-processing and encoding.

The Compression Engine, revved to version 1.3, can be used when content needs to be distributed in multiple formats and bit rates, as well as transcoding between different intermediate formats. It runs on Apple's Xserve and is fully scalable.

The Compression Engine 1.3 is available now. Compression Master 2.0 will be released on July 15. A pre-launch version can be downloaded for a free trial period from the Popwire Web site. Both are Mac OS X compatible.
