SyntheticMR signs agreement with Swedish University Hospital

SyntheticMR AB, a subsidiary of Accelerator Nordic AB, has entered into an agreement with Uppsala University Hospital regarding the use of SyMRI® in clinical research at the hospital. SyMRI, SyntheticMR’s software for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that enables faster workflows and better decision support, will initially be used in a research project on hydeocephalus.

“We see many possibilities with SyntheticMR’s product in this research project. If the project is successful, I have great hopes that we will also be able to use the software in the clinic as well”, says Elna-Marie Larsson, Professor, MD, DMSc at Uppsala University and Section of Neuroradiology, Department of Radiology, Uppsala University Hospital.

“That Uppsala University Hospital also chooses to use SyMRI in their clinical research program is yet another acknowledgement of the software’s clinical potential. At the same time this gives us an opportunity to take part in leading research that can lead to new clinical applications”, says Stefan Tell, CEO of SyntheticMR.

“With synthetic MR, the scan time per patient can be shortened and the technology also enables quantitative measurements. It is possible to measure volumes, for example of different parts of the brain, tumors, as well as other abnormalities. It is also possible for us to obtain measurements regarding tissue characteristics related to pathological conditions in the brain, thus enabling possibilities for better diagnostic methods”, Professor Larsson continues.

The first results from the project are expected during the fall 2012, continuing in 2013.
