Aifloo is launching unique energy control based on Artificial Intelligence

Aifloo EcoControl is a new intelligent platform to control heating-costs. With small investments the system’s retro-fit solution produces huge gains for real-estate owners, companies and apartment buildings.

Aifloo’s self-learning system creates a thermic model based on the physical properties of the building. In a similar way models are created from how the building is used. This, together with entirely new generation smart and very inexpensive sensors, creates optimal conditions to measure and control energy consumption. Initially the company will target the market for apartment buildings and commercial facilities.

- Aifloo EcoControl has enormous potential, says the CTO of Aifloo, Anders Widgren. - The technology is influenced by scientific research on Artificial Intelligence that I initially developed for algorithmic-financial- trading. I thought that if these principles were doing so well in such a complicated area like the financial market, it would be interesting to see what we could achieve in other areas. The fact is that the appearance of the data which controls heating and energy flows is very much similar to the price movement on the stock market; and the system struggles to understand the difference. As proof of this, the result has proven to be highly interesting and has provided unexpected and valuable insights.

According to the CEO of Aifloo, Michael Collaros, there is already a proof-of concept, since the technology has been evaluated on the villa-market. As Aifloo is entering a new sector - apartment buildings – this fall the company will focus on a new pilot project in the Stockholm area for such buildings. As one part of the pilot-project, the system will also be tested in commercial facilities.

Together, these areas represent a significant part of real estate in the country, by which we mean they represent a huge amount of total energy consumption; something Anders Widgren wants to emphasise as crucial to the business model of Aifloo.

- Since our system essentially turns the buildings into thermic batteries, huge advantages will occur within the area called Smart-Grid. This is important as it enhances conditions for renewable energy such as solar and wind power, says Widgren.
