SDC2012 - Detailed Programme Launched

SDC2012 is about bringing together people who work with software development, to discuss new ideas, views on industry trends, and exchange experiences.
We have all the news about the latest tools and frameworks for both the Java and .Net platforms, as well as plenty about development for the Web, IBMi, and Mobile devices. There are also tracks for developers who specialize in Testing, and Software Architecture. We have a full programme for Team Leaders, Scrum Masters, Project Managers, Product Owners. New for this year, is the programme of tutorials. This is a chance to follow up a broad programme of talks with in-depth training from world-leading experts. Note: tutorial participation is limited, so it's worth signing up early.

Notes from your Programme Chair, Emily Bache

Most software professionals lead a busy and fulfilling working life, juggling the demands of tight delivery schedules, conflicting stakeholder priorities, and seeminly insurmountable technical challenges. SDC2012 is a chance to get away from your desk for a few days, widen your horizons, and meet people with interesting experiences, insights and advice to share. My programme committee and I have selected a broad programme of talks and discussions on all aspects of modern software development. We have everything from programming to testing, architecture and usability; from teamwork and leadership to product management.

I don't often go to conferences, and I've never heard of most of the speakers at this one. Will I get anything out of the sessions?

I think you need to look at who has selected the talks. The Track Leaders for SDC2012 are drawn from local companies in Göteborg, and have worked in the software business for many years. They have also become leaders in their fields, often attending intenational conferences and reading books, blogs and articles. Take a look at their profiles. I chose them for my programme committee because I trust their judgement. I think we could all benefit from knowing more about the topics and upcoming trends they find interesting, from the experts they respect.

Who in my development team will benefit most from this conference?

We think you should bring your whole team. Managers sometimes worry "What if I train my people and they leave?" But what if you don't train them and they stay?! In a changing world of technology and business at internet speed, can you really afford not to keep abreast of what's going on in the wider world? Take a look at the detailed programme. Many of the speakers at SDC2012 have never spoken publicly in Göteborg before, and are internationally renowned experts - at the forefront of innovation in their fields. Some of the topics they will present are so new, little in the way of published books and articles exist yet. Take this chance to update everyone on your software development team.
