2011-07-14 08:24 Wiklander et al: A series of streptavidin-mimicking molecularly imprinted polymers has been developed and evaluated for their biotin binding characteristics. A combination of radioligand binding studies and surface area analyses demonstrated the presence of selectivity in polymers prepared using methacrylic acid as the functional monomer. 2011-07-06 10:25 Dahlbäck et al: During pregnancy, the interaction between malaria infected erythrocytes and the placental receptor is mediated by the parasite expressed protein VAR2CSA. A vaccine against placental malaria should induce antibodies inhibiting the interaction between VAR2CSA and CSA. In this study, we used a biosensor technology to examine binding properties... see link for full article! -->
2011-06-28 17:05 Lonza and Attana in collaboration: The combination of computational and protein engineering tools with novel orthogonal methods of measuring aggregation can be used to assess the developability of biopharm products in the early stages of development, thereby reducing the level of risk in later stages.
2011-07-11 08:59 Lund University: Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were prepared in situ on Attana's quartz crystal sensor surface with good reproducibility and long-term stability. The resulting MIP surfaces can be used for detection and discrimination between very similar molecules, and the analysis is fast enough to allow for large amounts of samples.
2011-06-22 08:44 University of California, San Fransisco (UCSF): A method has been optimized to extract Botulinum toxin A from the inclusion body, refold it into active form and purify it using ion exchange chromatography. A rapid immunoassay was also developed to facilitate monitoring of active Botulinum toxin A during purification, using Attana's quartz crystal microbalance sensor technology.
2011-06-20 08:28 Two experiments with two distinct purposes were performed on the Attana Cell 200. The first experiment intended to find a diagnostic tool to test tumors after surgery to see if they are metastatic. The second experiment tested a herceptin conjugate designed for targeted immunotherapy. Both results showed that the Attana Cell 200 may help lowering clinical stage failure rates.
2011-06-15 08:25 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT): A biocompatible and injectable designer self-assembling peptide hydrogel system has been developed. It may be a useful carrier for the presentation of functional proteins and therapeutic antibodies for sustained release applications.
2011-06-13 08:43 Polypure: By using functionalized PEG derivatives, gold particles can be modified or conjugated to biomolecules to increase the stability. Avidin has been used as a tetrameric multivalent "glue" to demonstrate cluster formation between biotinylated AuNPEGs (Polyethylene glycol coated gold nanoparticles).
2011-06-08 08:31 Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF): Currently we are using QCM to replace classical surface plasmon resonance experiments to quantify molecular interactions. We aim to establish this novel technology of measuring the interaction of biomolecules with molecules on entire cells, and to elucidate the binding properties of these interactions on defined systems.
2011-06-06 08:42 Lonza: This poster shows how the Lonza Biologics AggreSolve platform has been expanded and successfully applied to engineer humanized antibodies with good developability profiles; such antibodies have good stability, productivity and retain activity of therapeutic levels, eliminating the need for further, potentially destabilizing, affinity maturation.
