The Pathophysiology of MS
2008-06-26 08:53The pathophysiology of MS drives the course of disease over time. Axonal loss correlate with neurologic disability and cognitive dysfunction, which in turn, correlate with brain atrophy. An increased relapse rate has been associated with disease progression and axonal loss may contribute to this. It is the loss of axons through demyelination that correlates with irreversible disability in MS.
