Spector Release ‘Moth Boys’ New Album Out August 21st!

Make no mistake about it, Spector are like no one else. Led by enigmatic frontman and lyricist Fred Macpherson, with Jed Cullen (guitar), Danny Blandy (keyboards) and Tom Shickle (bass), this revamped line-up have been busy proving they’re here to stay, setting the internet alight and taking an irresistible live show to sold out venues around London and festivals all over the country.

First single and live anthem ‘All The Sad Young Men’ was the perfect introduction to their newly refined, sophisticated sound, described perfectly by The Quietus as a track putting “empty-hearted decadence onto a burnished Simple Minds chorus that soars”. Building on this, album track ‘Kyoto Garden’ shows a matured band who have developed a lighter touch to song writing. Glistening synths and a hypnotic beat provide a majestic backing to a tender, impassioned vocal from Macpherson.

Where their Top 20 debut ‘Enjoy It While It Lasts’ was a precocious blast of stadium-inspired indie rock, their new music is something else entirely and has a depth to match. Musically and lyrically it is a step forward, with the shimmering guitars of ‘Stay High’ to the majesty of Dev Hynes co-write and co-produce ‘Cocktail Party’ Moth Boys defies expectation at every turn; perhaps most of all on potential festival anthem and next single ‘Bad Boyfriend’.

The album artwork is a picture of defunct night club Rechenzentrum (Berlin, 2009) from Von Bleiben - a photographic series documenting the 'morning after' by German artists André Giesemann and Daniel Schulz. On the image, Fred said "We got very excited when we first saw André and Daniel's photo as it immediately evoked similiar feelings to the music and words on the record - we're very honoured that they've let us use it."

All physical copies of the album will also include a new work by one of Fred's favourite poets Sam Riviere, inspired by the album's lyrics and themes.
