Catalonia is the heir to a great gastronomy tradition, recognised today thanks to great chefs known worldwide such as, Ferran Adrià, Joan Roca and Carme Ruscalleda. Avant-garde, creative cuisine but also local cuisine. The offer on gastronomy in Costa Brava is particularly rich and diverse.
In the heart of this dynamic area a group of chefs united themselves and created La Cuina de l’Empordanet, with the aim of disseminating the cuisine of this region all over the world.
The gastronomy is based on the use of local products: from the sea (fish and seafood) and from the mainland (fruit, vegetables, legumes, game, poultry and other meats.
After several centuries of traditional Catalan gastronomy, this region has a strong personality that is focused mainly in two typical sauces: picada and sofregit.
A local speciality is “mar i muntanya”, meaning sea and mountain, a meticulous fusion of meat and fish. http://www.cuinadelempordanet.com/en/
