London calling

So we’re on our way back home after a couple of days in London. During these days, we’ve traversed a respectable portion of the London Underground, surfacing every now and then for a breath of fresh air and a business meeting. It's mostly hush-hush of course, but there are a few exceptions. We visited Brightcove who does OTT video streaming and got a demo of their systems. They seem to have good range of features and a polished UI, so now we’re curious to know what’s underneath the hood. We also met with media-system integrators NMR and sketched a project on the Vidispine/Portal platform, a happy combination of people and technology.

On the social side, we were treated to lunch at The Ivy, which is something of a canteen for actors, and to dinner at Chino Latino. During the latter, we were taken through the protocol of drinking sake: it should be warm or at the very least room temperature, your cup must never be empty, and it’s your neighbour’s responsibility to refill the cup at the ‘right' pace. More or less all discussions touched upon different aspect of media analysis, and we’re glad to say that there is no shortage of technical challenges. The only question that remains to be solved before the weekend is whether we’ll make our connection at Arlanda after the obligatory delay at the (now refurbished and in all other things so much improved) Heathrow Terminal 2. Fingers crossed!
