London Metropolitan Police beställer 22.000 kroppsburna kameror av TASER

Efter ett års noggrann utvärdering av vad marknaden har att erbjuda inom kroppsburna kameror har nu London Metropolitan Police beslutat beställa 22.000 kroppsburna kameror av TASER International. Kamerorna av typ AXON Body 2 ska levereras under 2016 och har batteri- och minneskapacitet för att spela in 12 tim. Nedladdning av video via WiFi, 2 min bufferkapacitet, IP 67, HD-kapacitet etc.

Under ledning av Mayor’s Office of Policing and Crime (MOPAC), the Metropolitan Police har nu världens mest omfattande test av kroppsburna kameror avslutats, Testen omfattade:

• 2.060 poliser
• 12.000 timmar inspelat material
• Genomsnittlig tid per video 15 min

De viktigaste resultaten:

• 33% minskat antal klagomål mot polisen
• 95% av Londonborna anser att metoden är ett bra hjälpmedel

Sir Bernard Hogan Howe, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police säger:

I'm delighted that we will be able to press ahead with the roll-out of this technology. For too long our equipment has lagged behind the technology almost everyone has in their pockets to capture events as they unfold. Soon, more of our officers will be able to make a record of the very challenging circumstances they are asked to deal with on a daily basis and then demonstrate, more effectively, the reality of policing our capital.
