Caliente now in the UK, starting with Tom Kerridge’s The Hand and Flowers

With a mission to make it easier to choose non-alcoholic, the award-winning Swedish company has started their soft launch in the UK. The first bottles are already on the menu at Tom Kerridge’s The Hand and Flowers, the only pub in the UK with two Michelin stars.

- Tom Kerridge, one of the country’s leading chefs has been a proponent of healthier eating and drinking in recent years, particularly with his Dopamine Diet, and having our drinks at one of his restaurants has great symbolic value. But it’s also a feather in the hat for Caliente, as it’s a drink to be paired with food - this is very exciting! Says Caliente’s founder, Thomas Adner.

The trend for drinks free of alcohol continues unabated throughout the world, especially amongst millennials. In the UK, more than a quarter of the 16- to 24-year-olds choose not to drink alcohol at all. Meanwhile, they look for options that don’t compromise on taste, nature or health. Caliente’s take to replace the taste and to some extent feeling of alcohol, is to add extracted chili heat, capsaicin. And given the success since the launch in 2015, Caliente definitely fills a gap in the market.

Their UK partner is Source 360 – purveyors of premium food and drinks for the UK restaurant, bar and retail trades. The founder James Brown first tried Caliente at the At Six hotel in Stockholm, and was hooked right away.
