16 Swedish Guldbagge Awards and the Audience Award for Film i Väst’s Co-Productions

Film i Väst co-productions earned 16 out of a possible 18 Guldbagge Awards, as well as the Audience Award, at the Guldbagge Award ceremony yesterday, Monday January 21st. The prizes were dispersed to seven different feature films, one short film and one documentary.

The Guldbagge Awards are Sweden’s leading film awards and have been presented annually since 1964 for outstanding contributions to Swedish film during the previous year. In total, over 430 Guldbagges have been awarded, including those presented in 18 different categories at this year’s gala. The 49th edition of the awards also marked the return of the Audience Award; the best Swedish film of the year, as voted by cinemagoers by phone or text during the live ceremony.

The nine Film i Väst co-productions captured Guldbagges in the following categories: Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Costume, Best Sound, Best Make Up, Best Music, Best Set Design, Best Visual Effects and Best Short Film.

­Located on the Swedish west coast in Västra Götaland, Film i Väst is one of Europe’s preeminent regional film funds. Film i Väst acts as investor and co-producer of Swedish and international feature films and quality drama for TV, and is involved in 30-40 co-productions each year.

Best Screenplay: Gabriela Pichlerfor her script for Eat Sleep Die
Best Cinematography: Hoyte van Hoytema for his cinematography in Call Girl
Best Editing: Andreas Jonsson, Hanna Lejonqvist and Niels Pagh Andersen for editing Palme
Best Costume: Cilla Rörby for the costumes in Call Girl 
Best Sound: Petter Fladeby and Per Nyström for the sound in Call Girl
Best Make up: Jenny Fred for the make up in Easy Money II
Best Music: Benny Andersson for the music in Palme
Best Set design: Lina Nordqvist for the set design in Call Girl
Best Visual effects: Andreas Hylanderfor the visual effects in The Ice Dragon
Best Short Film: Dance Music Now. Director:  Johan Jonason
Audience Award: Tosh in Greece Director: Hannes Holm
