FundedByMe appoints social-minded Global Product Manager

FundedByMe has announced the appointment of Siam Choudhury, effective immediately. Choudhury, who returned to his hometown of Stockholm after some years spent in Ireland, joined FundedByMe at the beginning of January. This new position follows hot on the heels of four years spent in charge of the Small and Medium Business segment in the Nordics at Facebook’s European headquarters in Dublin. Today he is based out of the FundedByMe head office.

In addition to his new role within FundedByMe, Choudhury was also the first crowd investor to invest into FundedByMe during the firm’s Equity Crowdfunding round in 2013. His hands-on experience as a crowdfunder, coupled with his strong experience in social media, positions him perfectly as Global Product Manager. And FundedByMe Chief Operating Officer, Pontus Frohde, agrees, “The current financial market ensures that crowdfunding is ripe for the picking. With Siam in charge of our platform, enabling us to better listen to our 30,000 members and keep a finger on the pulse of the modern – and traditional – investor, FundedByMe is sure to continue along the path of growth that has seen us raise over €4,2 million for entrepreneurs.”

Choudhury spent years being heavily involved in online communities, particularly around gaming – a booming sector within crowdfunding. He set up and ran video game websites for a few years before moving on to work on a startup with a couple of college friends - the now closed-down ParsLibris, a book-sharing community. At Facebook, Choudhury’s role included acquisition, growth and education.

About crowdfunding, Choudhury says, “I think it’s important to look at each investment in two ways. What you can learn and get from the investment and equally important, what you can contribute with, aside from the monetary investment. This type of investment allows investors to choose the scale of their investment, both financially and through knowledge, forcing them to think about what they have capacity for, and what knowledge and skills they have that would be helpful to the entrepreneur.”

Choudhury holds a Masters Degree in International Management from Uppsala University in Sweden.
