The hack is back - ON A BOAT

Something is happening in the startup scene in Gothenburg. Last year Gothenburg Startup Hack gained international attention as companies such as Google, Spotify and Dropbox sponsored the event. Gothenburg is the birthplace of global industries such as Volvo and SKF.  But now it is also becoming the site of a thriving startup culture.

As an expression for this Gothenburg Startup Hack takes place in Gothenburg, the second biggest city in Sweden, on May 16th.

- We felt so proud to be able to host Gothenburg Startup Hack last year. We are more than thrilled to once again arrange the 'hackathon', says Peter Kurzwelly and Tomas Olsson, two of the organizers of the hack. The hack is all about creating the best digital product within the 10 hours the hack lasts. As a celebration to the city of Gothenburg this years hack is going to be sited on an old steam boat which will host over a hundred contestants.

Gothenburg Startup Hack are a part, and will constitute the grande finale of Gbg Tech Week - an initiative from several actors in Gothenburg that wants to add light on all that is happening on the startup scene in the city. Some of the participating actors are Chalmers Innovation, G-Lab 21, Startup Grind and Venture Cup that are having their regional finale as a part of Gbg Tech Week.

In Gothenburg Startup Hack the participants compete in teams with their own ideas, which they are supposed to create a working prototype out of. Several of the sponsors will be present in order to interact with the competing teams. Last year this was one of the few events in Gothenburg that Google chose to sponsor. The purpose of the day is to open up the world of tech and digital content creation for the people of Gothenburg. It is also about encouraging more people to code and develop digital solutions that create a value for others.

– We are going to keep pointing at the fact that there is so much potential in this city. Something is about to happen and Gothenburg is a startup-city to count with in the future, says Peter Kurzwelly and Tomas Olsson.
