Young Scientists´ Forum Idea Scholarship - Biomaterials Research Centre in co-operation with Chalmers Innovation, GU Holding and Sahlgrenska Science Park
Are you a master student, doctorial student or a young researcher that have an idea or research result that potentially can be developed into a commercialized unique product? Are you curious about finding out if your idea might be a commercial success? If so, we recommend you to apply for the "Idea Scholarship – From Idea to Reality".
The purpose of the scholarship is to create a possibility for master students and researchers to find out if their idea has a business potential and a commercial value. The scholarship will be given in a very early stage, where other means can be hard to find for this purpose. The ideas are therefore often very basic. It can be a description of what to sell and what technology that will be used but where no market verification has been done yet. In other words, do not be afraid to apply for the scholarship for the reason that the idea is in a very early stage. As long as it can be commercially used and based on technology it will be interesting.
Master Students, doctoral students and young researchers that have an idea based on technology and who want to use the scholarship for early market estimations/mapping. The scholarship is max. SEK 10.000 and can be used for: market surveys, meetings (travels and expenses) with professionals in trade, independent verifying of the technology or other efforts that can verify or strengthen the business potential of the innovation.
The invention must be based on technology. The invention must be unique in some respects and also show a commercial benefit for the potential customer. The invention should be possible to be spread and sold worldwide. The idea must be in a very early stage and not within a company; this implies that the person applying for the scholarship must have the rights to the idea him/her/themselves. The scholarship CAN NOT be used as research funds since it should verify or strengthen the business potential of the innovation. The final decision cannot be appealed.
The person/s that will be awarded an idea scholarship will be responsible for using the scholarship for the above written purposes. The scholarship winner/s will be supported by a business developer from our Innovation partners to give the scholarship maximum benefit. It is a personal scholarship and is therefore not a subject for labour tax. Our Innovation partners expects that the person awarded with an Innovation scholarship will compile a written and oral report to them appraisal group at the latest two months after the scholarship has been paid out. The person awarded is also expected to present their research at the Young Scientists Forum forthcoming year, a meeting for young researchers within the field of Biomaterials arranged by Biomaterials Research Centre (BRC) at University of Gothenburg.Last application day
