2012-05-31 09:01
GöteborgBIO opens the first call for projects meeting the needs in the area of Cardiovascular and Metabolic diseases within the BIO-X™ program. Thereby, the model for open innovation, which has been successfully developed by Uppsala BIO, will become available to academic researchers throughout the entire Region Västra Götaland.
- This is a pilot call enabled by a close collaboration with Uppsala BIO. It´s a fantastic opportunity for us to try out the BIO-X process, which will open up new paths for researchers in Western Sweden, says Björn Ericsson, Chairman and Process Manager for GöteborgBIO.
BIO-X is a structured process for open innovation. While many innovation support initiatives develop out of research results and attempt to find a market for them, BIO-X works on the basis of defined needs, where new solutions can be developed from academic research. Researchers´ project proposals are reviewed on the basis of criteria such as benefits for users and the chances of their proposals actually being capable of culminating in the product or service envisaged. Projects which are eventually selected will receive both process support and finance in order to arrive proof-of-concept, where commercial forces can take over.
2012, Göteborg BIO call for proposals meeting the needs in the area of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (CVM). We are looking for new innovative tools and methods for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Solutions could be based on biomaterials, health technology and pharmaceuticals, defined as focus areas of the Region Västra Götaland. The call closes August 29 th, 2012.
