2012-01-06 09:13 15 researchers in Göteborg receive MSEK 13.7 from the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation to develop methods to treat people suffering from heart, lung or vascular diseases. One of them is Anna-Carin Olin, Senior Lecturer at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Anna-Carin Olin also recieved verification grant in 2010 from GöteborgBIOin collaboration with Sahlgrenska Science Park.
2011-05-15 20:05 For the first time ever in the world, researchers at the Sahlgrenska Academy have produced a blood vessel from stem cells and then used it in an operation on a 10-year-old girl at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Göteborg. Surgeon/Professor Michael Olausson was able to create a new connection with the aid of this blood vessel between the liver and the intestines, necessary to cure the girl.
2010-11-09 14:55 Lower back pain affects many people and may be caused by degeneration of the discs between the vertebrae. Treatment for the condition using stem cells may be an alternative to today's surgical procedures. This is the conclusion of a thesis presented at the Sahlgrenska Academy.
