Gothenburg’s Culture Festival and EuroPride: concerts and celebrated dance – free admission

During Gothenburg’s Culture Festival and EuroPride between the 14th and 19th of August, the Göteborg Opera presents several programmes – all free of charge. GöteborgsOperans Danskompani perform the praised dance piece Untitled black. Soloists, musical artists, the Göteborg Operan’s Chorus and Orchestra perform highlights from the coming season.

Also: the family show Hansel & Gretel’s Opera Adventure, and as a part of EuroPride, the concert A Tribute to Bernstein: 100 Years.

GöteborgsOperans Danskompani continues its success. Last season they received both prestigious awards and praise from audience and critics, in Sweden and abroad. On August 17th it opens their seasons with a free performance of Untitled Black by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar. The dance piece has been described with words like: ”… each second is a delight” (Göteborgs-Posten) and ”It is absorbing, stylish, and hard to get enough of” (GT).

Already on the 15th and 16th soloists, musical artists, the Göteborg Operan’s Chorus and Orchestra take to the stage for two performances of previews from the coming season. Anja Bihlmaier conducts.

Performing arts brings us together, just like EuroPride where we on Saturday the 18th of August present a foyer concert dedicated to Leonard Bernstein whose centennial falls in 2018. Part of the concert is highly acclaimed coloratura soprano  Kerstin Avemo’s performance of ”Glitter and be gay” from the operetta Candide.

On Sunday the 19th the family show Hansel & Gretel’s Opera Adventure is presented at GöteborgsOperan as part of Gothenburg Piano Festival.
