Company-specific programme on three continents for SKF’s finance executives

GU School of Executive Education at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg provides a customised training programme to controllers and financial executives within the global finance organisation of the SKF Group. The programme is organised into three five-day modules and the first module of the programme, focusing on strategy, risk management and financial governance has been completed. Enrolled in the programme were 16 employees from China, Russia, France, Colombia, Uruguay, Germany, Brazil and Sweden.

This is the sixth year in which GU School of Executive Education is offering the programme for financial executives at SKF, with 80 individuals having graduated to date. This time, the programme is delivered on-site in Gothenburg; Shanghai, China; and Landsdale in the US.

– The programme aims to advance its participants’ understanding of strategy, corporate governance and leadership. It is one of several resources being used to develop the expertise required to ensure SKF’s long-term competitiveness, says Petter Rönnborg, Competence Development Manager at SKF.

The programme covers a wide range of topics ranging from strategy development, to product management, change management, value-creation, international customer focus and communication. The participants also have an opportunity to forge anetwork to serve as the foundation for productive collaboration between executives within the global SKF organisation.

As the SKF Group is represented in over 130 countries and the participants come from the SKF Group’s global organisation, the programme is by definition designed with a clear international focus.

Testimonials from some of the participants during the first module in Gothenburg:

Anders Fredriksson, Tax Director at SKF headquarters in Gothenburg
Networking is important and I have gained a number of new and valuable contacts. The programme also provides a deeper overall understanding of the business and a holistic perspective, which is healthy to have. Personally, it has also given me an opportunity to stop and reflect.

Jennifer Xu, Financial Executive at SKF’s sales company in Shanghai
For me, the programme has been the source of countless new ideas and I was particularly drawn to the component of the programme that focuses on various forms of strategy. I also regard this programme as a substantial asset for my continued career.

Viktor Kraitor, CFO at SKF in Russia
The discussions with all of these talented individuals are extremely rewarding and give new meaning to our joint vision. The way in which the programme merges theory and practical application is highly effective and promotes advancement.
