The School of Business, Economics and Law in Gothenburg granted membership of Executive MBA Council

The School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg is a new member of the Executive MBA Council – a non-profit association of universities and colleges that offer Executive MBA programmes. The Executive MBA Council currently includes 230 colleges and universities that administer 300 plus programmes in more than 40 countries worldwide. The council attracts members from schools and programmes diverse in size, scope, and location. One of the council’s key roles involves serving as a voice and a central source of information about Executive MBA education. Membership gives the School of Business, Economics and Law access to an exclusive network of world-class business schools, which, in turn, provides opportunities for benchmarking and international cooperation.

Michael Desiderio, Executive Director of the Executive MBA Council, congratulates Håkan Ericson, Managing Director of GU School of Executive Education, on the school’s membership.

Prestigious membership among the world’s foremost business schools

Membership of the Executive MBA Council is subject to strict requirements: the school must be internationally accredited and persons accepted to attend the Executive MBA programme must work full time at the executive level and have at least five years of work experience. Additionally, a recommendation in writing from a member of the Executive MBA Council is required. As one of 150 business schools with EQUIS accreditation, and the only business school in Sweden with AMBA accreditation of its Executive MBA programme, the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg satisfies these requirements. Håkan Ericson, Managing Director of GU School of Executive Education at the School of Business, Economics and Law in Gothenburg, is proud of the school’s membership of the Executive MBA Council.

“We have worked single-mindedly to establish our Executive MBA programme and to increase awareness of how it can strengthen both participants and the employers who nominate their key talents to participate in the programme. I regard being granted membership of the Executive MBA Council as an important step in this quality work”, says Håkan Ericson, who is in Singapore attending the Executive MBA Council’s annual conference.

Executive MBA on a part-time basis with a Nordic-Asian focus

The School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg was first in Scandinavia to offer an Executive MBA programme. The programme has a unique Nordic-Asian focus, with parts of the programme taught in top-ranked universities in China and India. The programme is held in English on a part-time basis over 21 months and is aimed at managers with at least five years of work experience. The next Executive MBA programme will begin on 6 October 2016.
