GWS receives government research grant from Vinnova

Global Warning System (GWS) will receive a grant from the government agency, Vinnova, for the project “Artificial intelligence for detecting global security risks”. The project category was “Company innovation projects” and the sum of the Vinnova grant will be around 2 million SEK. The total amount of the grant will be matched by an equal sum from GWS, in order to finance the project.

GWS’ was approved the grant of 1 989 101 SEK from Vinnova. The aim of the project, which will run until 2018, is to use artificial intelligence to quickly and effectively detect new global security risks. The sum is preliminary, and the payment will be done in tranches based on GWS following the proposed project plan and Vinnova’s report requirements.

GWS provides a personal travel security service, Safeture, which provides critical information about disasters and other threats that could impact travelers. The alerts and travel security content is gathered by an advanced data mining system, and then vetted by our in-house team of analysts. The Vinnova-financed project aims to further investigate efficiency and effectiveness of AI in detecting global security risks. The goal for GWS is to increase the accuracy, to the point where input and sources can be dramatically increased without increasing manual workload and control.

Andreas Rodman, CEO at GWS, comments:

“We are happy to announce that we will received a grant that will allow us to further develop our cutting-edge technology within security. We will focus our efforts on how AI can contribute to continuous improvement together with human control and feedback. We will, for example, work with multilingual AI for global detection of security risks. This work will benefit our customers and users and further improve our services.”
