Magnus Mähring appointed holder of the Erling Persson Chair in Business Administration

The Board of Directors of the Stockholm School of Economics has appointed Magnus Mähring as the holder of the Erling Persson Chair in Business Administration, especially entrepreneurship and digital innovation.

Since 2016, Magnus Mähring has been a professor of business administration at the Stockholm School of Economics, especially information management. His research focuses on digital innovation and change processes in, and between, organizations.

“I’m naturally very pleased and honored,” says Magnus Mähring. “The Chair’s strong connection to entrepreneurial activity and business development is particularly dear to my heart. I also see this as a sign of strong support for the School’s current initiative in the area of innovation, entrepreneurship and digitization, which is highly encouraging.”

Magnus Mähring’s research includes studies of digital initiatives in the Swedish and German banking sectors, as well as in higher education in Denmark and in the US public sector. He has held advisory assignments and reviewed a number of major digital initiatives in the private and public sectors in Sweden. Former clients also include Microsoft, SAS, the Red Cross, and public organizations.

In 2017, the Swedish government appointed Magnus Mähring a member of its expert group on digital investment, the purpose of which is to help accelerate digitization of the public sector to improve service for citizens and organizations and to enhance efficiency in public operations.

At the Stockholm School of Economics, Magnus Mähring was recently appointed head of the new House of Innovation initiative, which brings together research in entrepreneurship, innovation and digitization at the School. He is also responsible for the School’s strategic international partnerships. He was previously assigned responsibility for our Master programs.
