MBA scholars to strengthen Swedish competitiveness

Sofie Dahlberg and Åsa Ek have been awarded the SSE MBA Silfvén scholarships 2017. The scholarships are given to the next generation of leaders to promote the competitiveness of Swedish-based business in an international market.

The SSE MBA Silfvén scholarships are funded by the Carl Silfvén Foundation, a foundation established in 1914 through the will of Carl Silfvén. The scholarships cover the full tuition fee of SEK 465,000 for the SSE MBA Executive Format program, as well as travel and boarding expenses for the recipients.

“We are very proud to offer this scholarship”, says Karin Wiström, Director SSE MBA, Stockholm School of Economics. “We hope that Sofie Dahlberg and Åsa Ek will bring best practices and state of the art management knowledge back into their businesses and become leaders with a strategic and holistic understanding of management, working more efficiently throughout their organizations”.

Sofie Dahlberg is Range Manager at Kinnarps AB, with a BSc in Engineering Product Design:

I feel so inspired to been given this chance. I´m looking forward to build an international network with highly motivated people and have the opportunity to deepen my knowledge within leadership and business development. I believe this endeavour will have a great impact on my future, both professionally and personally. I´m prepared to work hard and hope for exciting experiences over the upcoming 18 months”, says Sofie.

Åsa Ek is CEO of Cellutech, with a MSc in Chemical Engineering:

I would like to express the greatest gratitude to the Carl Silfvén Foundation for giving me this opportunity to be a part of the SSE Executive MBA class of 2017. I know that the program will equip me with a whole new world of knowledge and I’m eager to put it to practice. To learn from my classmates' experiences from other industries and organizations will be key to my ability to develop the start-up I’m heading”, says Åsa Ek.
