Port of Helsingborg heading for new record year 2015
After a strong 2014, the Port of Helsingborg is heading for a record-breaking result for 2015. When the final accounts are presented, the Port is expecting to deliver a result of around SEK 50 million.
An effective port, with the ability to win new market shares, and to develop through collaboration with new as well as existing customers. That is part of the explanation for the positive trend for the Port of Helsingborg in 2015 – the year with the strongest result since the Öresund Bridge opened in 2000.
“We are very pleased with the result for 2015, and equally pleased at having created excellent prerequisites for continued success. During the course of 2015, we harvested the fruits of important investments that have made the Port even better for our customers. We have gained market shares in the area of Swedish import and export and we are continuously developing and strengthening the Port's effectiveness and its offering,” says Niels Vallø, CEO at the Port of Helsingborg.
Figuring among the new collaborations and volume increases are Maersk/Seago and Hapaq Lloyd, with an extra call each week, Baltic Reefer/Cool Carriers with completely new traffic, Boliden and SCA with new traffic flows, Dachser with new handling, Green Cargo with a new rail shuttle, and Kuehne + Nagel, who chose to move their flows to the Port of Helsingborg.
During the course of 2015, the Port continued to invest for the future. Sweden’s most modern central gate was inaugurated, taking the industry standard for service and security to a new level with its advanced technology. The development of the Port of Helsingborg will continue throughout 2016 with, for example, yard planning, the possibility to take larger vessels, and investment in another container quay in Västhamnen (West Harbour).
