Does privacy conscious people have an option?

Take a moment to consider this quote from Techcrunch (posted Dec 25, 2016 by Gry Hasselbalch):

With the current digital infrastructure, we are heading in the wrong direction: Individuals are becoming more and more transparent, open to different types of control, manipulation and discrimination, while the powerful — government, industry and organizations — are more and more closed off.”

We are slowly but surely breaking down the barriers between the public and the private sphere. This has a lot of implications, many of which are sinister and dark.

However, the point is that we have a choice. The article points out that there are options for those who want to protect their privacy. The effects of the current developments, while encroaching and pervasive, can be mitigated as the article points out: Privacy is empowerment, you just have to make the right choices.

There are alternatives to the social platforms that are making their money solely from selling information about you, such as Facebook and Google.

Check out Idka (https://idka.com). Take back control, invite your real friends, family and co-workers and express yourself freely. Focus on a true universe of real friends, don’t worry about what you write – it will stay private.
