Bäckman’s joins TCR Germany at Hockenheim

This weekend, September 13th-15th, Andreas and Jessica Bäckman joins the TCR Germany series with team Target Competition in Hyundai i30 N TCR cars. Jessica makes her second appearance in the prestigious championship this year and Andreas makes his debut in the series. After the disappointment at the previous round of TCR Europe at Oschersleben, they are ready for revenge.

After the six weeks break since the previous round of TCR Europe at the Oschersleben track in Germany, the siblings from Sweden now makes a guest appearance in the German championship ADAC TCR Germany.

The race takes place at the Formula 1-track Hockenheimring in Germany. Andreas and Jessica will compete as usual with the Italian team Target Competition in one Hyundai i30 N TCR car each.

This means that the upcoming two weeks will be intense, as they also will race next week in the upcoming round of TCR Europe in Barcelona, Spain.

ADAC TCR Germany is one of the most competitive TCR series around the world and attracts many spectators and media to the events. Andreas and Jessica will together with their 19 competitors compete for the victories in the two races this weekend. Last time Jessica and Andreas raced at Hockenheim was in TCR Europe in May earlier this year. Then the result was a third- respectively fourth place, which is promising when they will revisit the track this weekend.

– It will be an exciting new challenge to compete in TCR Germany. It’s a series that is ranked high and has some top-class drivers, so it won’t be easy, but it feels good to get back out on the race tracks and to compete again. It will also be a good preparation for next weekend when we are back in TCR Europe after the long break, says Andreas Bäckman.

The preparations for the siblings since last time has been to analyse data and videos from the previous race at Oschersleben. They also made a visit to the Hyundai Motorsport HQ and have prepared with both physical- and mental training to be in the best possible shape for the two upcoming race weekends.

– Looking forward to race again and, it’s extra fun to be back and join TCR Germany again. I feel comeback hungry since last time and this competition is also a perfect preparation for Barcelona next weekend, says Jessica Bäckman.
