Press release -

The Bäckman’s heads to Barcelona

Jessica and Andreas Bäckman are back in TCR Europe this weekend after the long break in the championship since the previous race at Oschersleben. This time the series travels to Barcelona, Spain for the penultimate round of the European series. The siblings from Sweden are ready after last weekend’s race in the German championship TCR Germany, where Jessica claimed a second-place finish.

This weekend, September 20th-22nd, 35 of Europe’s top drivers will compete at the famous Formula 1 track Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which is located close to Barcelona in Spain. The track has top-class facilities and are the host of the Spanish Grand Prix in Formula 1, as well as other big racing championships.

Last weekend, Jessica Bäckman claimed her third podium finish of the year, when she finished second on her favourite track Hockenheimring in the German championship ADAC TCR Germany. Now this weekend, she is aiming to continue in the positive trend from last weekend.

- After my second-place last weekend, I’m looking forward to being back and race in TCR Europe again. Also, it will be exciting to race in Barcelona again, as it’s the only track on the calendar we have raced at before, says Jessica Bäckman.

Andreas Bäckman had a tougher time last weekend at Hockenheimring, but he will bring the positives from last weekend’s race, especially the strong second place in the qualifying.

- Last weekend’s race was tough for me, but I feel I have the performance and I’m looking forward to comeback and race again this weekend, says Andreas Bäckman.

The 4,655 km long circuit has a big variation of corners and straights.

- I like the track in Barcelona, we drove one race here last year and it’s a challenging track. Also, it normally creates spectacular races, and many overtakes, says Andreas.

The intense program for the Swedish siblings with the race last weekend in Germany and now this weekend in Spain, means they are in good shape and are well prepared.

- It feels good to come straight into a new race weekend with a good weekend in the baggage. I think that it will be mine and Andreas' advantage this weekend, compared to many of our competitors that haven’t raced in a long time, says Jessica.
