Press release -

The Bäckman’s ready for a new race weekend in TCR Europe

TCR Europe and its 29 drivers heads to Oschersleben in Germany this weekend at August 2-4, for the fifth round of championship. The racing siblings Andreas and Jessica Bäckman are looking forward to a new race weekend after a couple of weeks break and are comeback hungry!

- The track is quite different to the other tracks on this year’s calendar, says Andreas Bäckman.

Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is a 3,667 km long racing circuit in Oschersleben, that is located approximately 30 km from Magdeburg in Germany. The track was inaugurated in 1997, and has been hosting races in series like DTM, Formula 2 and WTCC during the years. This weekend it’s time for the fifth round of TCR Europe to be hosted at the track, where Europe’s best drivers will be competing for the top positions. The Bäckman siblings from the North of Sweden are excited and comeback hungry for a new race weekend, after a couple of weeks break, where they have spent the time by doing, among other things, like driver coaching, deep analysis’s, physical training and simulator training.

Andreas is eager to drive his Hyundai i30 N TCR car again after the break since the previous round at Red Bull Ring.

- I’m looking forward to the weekend, I have a good feeling in the car and the driving since the last couple of races and I’m hoping to improve myself and my results even more this weekend at Oschersleben. The track seems quite different to the other tracks this season, as its smaller, so I think the races will be tight and exciting for the spectators. I think it will be important to have a good qualifying and to start towards the front of the field for both races, says Andreas Bäckman.

His sister Jessica is also comeback hungry since her two recent race failures.

- I’m feeling very excited, as Oschersleben is one of the tracks I enjoy the most since the winter tests I did and therefore I’m hoping to regain my competition form. My focus will be to get a good qualifying as I’m aware it’s important in order to be able to deliver good results, says Jessica Bäckman.
