World-class skiing in Swedish Winter Wonderland

Ready steady winter, the fabulous season of the year when degress below zero makes you lyrical and minus means something positive. Winter has taken a firm grip on the Swedish ski destinations. ÅreVemdalenFunäsfjällenLofsdalen and Bydalsfjällen are covered in a thick layer of snow and winter is here to stay until beginning of May. January tempts with marvellous weather and great snow conditions throughout the region of Jämtland Härjedalen that turned in to a Winter Wonderland.

-A period of frosty days has made the snow base firm and stable, while the snowfalls have brought fluffy powder and a softer top. The mix means that your skis carve really well. We can offer world-class skiing in the entire region, says Linda Wasell, at Jämtland Härjedalen Tourism.

In Jämtland Härjedalen there are innumerable opportunities for finding everything ranging from family-friendly quiet pistes to fresh, untouched powder snow in steep couloirs. There are plenty of ski resorts in the region; the one you choose depends on your preference in terms of personal capacity and the pace at the resort.

News for the season are among others; The new freeskiing area “Freeride Paradise” and a brand new fun park for kids in TänndalenLofsdalen Skybar, a Mackmyra whiskey storage at 1125 m.a.s.l, the highest one in Europe. The new expresslift Hovde Express, that takes 2.200 people an hour up to the top of the mountain in Vemdalen. Development of the big Ambilight snow park in Åre with lights in different colours and new lines with boxes, rails and challenging jumps.

The snow cover in the terrain in Åre measures 68 cm, in Lofsdalen 65 cm and in Ramundberget 73 cm. *Source: SLAO
