Reform - a new multi-flexible and futuristic sofa system

Johanson Design presents a completely new modular sofa system with unlimited possibilities for changing its form and function. Reform is the creation of furniture designer Alexander Lervik. “The challenge in this assignment was to create a sofa system that would offer maximum flexibility. I immediately began to think in terms of an elegant and lightweight sofa with wooden details, all in characteristic Scandinavian design,” says Alexander Lervik.

The Reform sofa system is the result of Lervik’s ideas. Its whole design is sleek and smart. The wooden detailing in combination with the enamelled metal frame and extensive choice of textiles offer unlimited scope for exciting combinations of colours and materials. “I was inspired by the automobile industry, which now offers an impressive range of models based on a common platform,” explains Alexander. Thanks to its 50- or 60-cm-wide seating modules, low or high backs, partition sections, side table tops and arm rests, this sofa system can be easily adapted to match its environment and purpose.

With armrests placed at the ends of the sofa or between each module, Reform can offer both openness and privacy. And, by using the partition sections, small discrete booths can be created ideal, for example, for making phone calls. The different sizes of the seating modules and side table tops make it easy to include corner units.
“As the range of assembly choices is so extensive, Reform can either make a strong statement or just blend in with an existing restful environment,” adds Alexander Lervik.
